What I want to do is have the android (or ios if necessary) MyMovies app appear on my TV when I start my home theater. Jamie Hmm, I'm probably not explaining this correctly, but a sincere thank you for the input. If this is too complicated for you do what Paul suggested.

That Is why I recommended the free players/ Also, if you want just get a windows player like powerdvd 18, or MPC-BE, or VLC and just manually play your discs without mymovies and CMC.

You also need to install Powerdvd, or some other player on windows with WMC too.

If you want more sophistication you can buy Cyberlink's Powerdvd 18.

MPC-BE, or VLC or one of the other free movie players and your off and running. All you need to do is have your disc titles setup In the Mymovies CM app and then point CMC to the proper folder where mymovies placed your rips. That is why I recommend dumping WMC and use CMC (Chameleon MediaCenter) to replace WMC. WMC was dropped many years ago by MicroSoft and is a pain to setup and keep running on windows 10. Just hook up the HDMI cable to the HTPC and the TV. That is if you want to use your HTPC (laptop). The second app is WMC (windows media center) which displays your collection on the TV screen. It has the Mymovies Collection Management app which is used to rip and enter your discs.

In my opinion CMC is the replacement to Windows media center. Are you ripping your own DVD and Bluray discs? If the app your referring to is WMC using the mymovies app I recommend you use CMC Chameleon MediaCenter. Does anyone know a good way to view the app on TV? Been quite a pain trying to get this simple function to work. I have rokus, a Mi Box, a laptop (without the app, since it created lots of problems when installed), chromecast, and a fire TV. Would like to have my home theater start up on an input showing my library. Looking for the simplest way to view the app on my TV. Nothing comes close to the freedom, independence and beauty that it entails. I strongly recommend you to build/buy a dedicated HTPC. If you have any questions going forward, please feel free to ask. If you are not in favor of Windows, there are plugins which let you fetch the My Movies meta-data for Kodi (cross-platform) and (some of?) the Dune network players. I understand you encountered issues with your laptop install, may I ask what kind of? I've been using the Windows version for about 7 years now, and for the most part it worked as intended. My Movies was primarily written as a Windows program, and then ported to the most popular platforms.

That's the beauty of the PC in my opinion, it gives you maximum compatibility. I don't own any of them, but from what I've gathered each one has its own eco-system which in turn requires developers to compile a new plugin ("app") to support it. I'm assuming the OP wants not only to access but play his library on the big screen, so here goes: All your devices were designed with streaming capabilities being the focal point, and therefore lack expandability.
